REVIEW: Frats at Bat

6 Apr

Last Friday Tri Delta hosted its annual philanthropy, Frats at Bat. I’ve posted about this philanthropy multiple times before so I wanted to share the success of it with y’all :).

Just for some background, Frats at Bat is a softball competition for fraternities. All the funds raised from the event go straight to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This is all part of Tri Delta’s goal to raise $15 million in 5 years to fund the construction of a new patient wing at St. Jude.

Friday was a beautiful day for softball. Past Frats at Bats we’ve had overcast weather and some rain but this year, the weather gods were on our side. We had two DJs at the event who were so great and kept everyone’s spirits up.

We had 20 fraternities participate in the softball bracket competition. This is the largest turnout we have had thus far! We earned the most money this year as well.

We had a couple of home runs and a lot of spirit from the fraternities and their coaches who were Tri Deltas.

Shannon Morton, Tri Delta’s philanthropy chair, was the director of this whole event. She put in so much time and effort to have Frats at Bat go smoothly. Watch her explain the planning process for the event and what her favorite part was!

I think the best part of Frats at Bat was how involved everyone was. All the umpires and referees were Tri Delts and a lot of the food and entertainment present were donations from the West Lafayette community.

It was really heartening to see everyone so committed to helping St. Jude.

For those of you not able to attend the event, this is what you missed. Be sure to attend next year and support Tri Delta and St. Jude!
